Liventus President Dan Levin Named to Monitor’s 2026 Most Influential People in Equipment Finance

Monitor names Liventus President & Co-Founder Dan Levin a Tech Transformer for turning painful, manual processes into lasting systems in equipment finance.

October 19, 2026 – Liventus announced that its President and Co-Founder, Daniel Levin, has been named to Monitor’s 2026 Most Influential People in Equipment Finance in the Tech Transformers category. The recognition appears in the September/October 2026 issue of Monitor, the independent voice of equipment finance.

Monitor’s profile describes Dan as someone who “has spent his career turning painful, manual processes into lasting systems.” Early on, he helped Beacon Funding become one of the first firms to implement Microsoft’s CRM, then automated enough of the business to sustain growth through a staff reduction during COVID. Today, his focus is agentic AI: turning processes that rely on individual effort into durable systems.

“Equipment finance has always had the data. What’s changed is that systems can now reason over that data instead of just storing it, so credit decisions are faster and more consistent.” — Dan Levin, President & Co-Founder, Liventus

Dan also took part in Monitor’s Technology Roundtable, “From Experimentation to Execution: Rethinking AI, Risk & Talent in Equipment Finance,” alongside three other equipment finance technology and operations leaders. His answers offer a practical view of how lenders can get real value from AI.

Start with the Problem, Not the Tool

Asked what separates lenders getting real value from AI from those still experimenting, Dan pointed to discipline. The lenders seeing results start with a specific pain point, such as application intake, document review, or exception triage, then set a baseline and measure whether it moved. The ones stuck experimenting did the reverse: they started with the tool and stood up a pilot nobody owned and nothing depended on.

“If you can name the metric that moved, you’re getting value. If you can’t, you’re still experimenting.” — Dan Levin, Monitor Technology Roundtable

Data Is the Real Advantage

Speed was the differentiator for the last decade, Dan said, but it is now table stakes. Today, the advantage sits in security, in the ability to execute, and above all in proprietary data: what you’ve funded and how it performed by asset class, vendor, geography, and channel.

“Nobody else has your portfolio history. AI can’t invent it, and no vendor can sell it to you.” — Dan Levin, Monitor Technology Roundtable

Modernization Without Rip-and-Replace

On the assumption that modernization means replacing the core system, Dan was direct. Large replacement programs consume years and enormous capital, and they often deliver the same workflows on newer infrastructure because nobody redesigned the process. In his view, most of the real gains sit in the “connective tissue”: data access, integrations, decisioning layers, and the manual handoffs between systems.

“Rip-and-replace is the most expensive way an organization can avoid deciding how it wants to operate.” — Dan Levin, Monitor Technology Roundtable

Rethinking Risk in an Automated Environment

Dan noted that the same capability that automates legitimate workflows also lets bad actors produce convincing synthetic identities and documentation at volume. His answer is to automate the noise, including intake, document handling, stipulation chasing, and deal prioritization, and to push verification upstream into intake so underwriters spend their judgment on the deals worth taking. Automated decisions should also be monitored continuously, the way delinquency already is.

“Every automated decision also needs a reason an examiner and a customer can both read; explainability is an architectural requirement, not a reporting feature.” — Dan Levin, Monitor Technology Roundtable

Protecting the Talent Pipeline

As routine processing gets automated, Dan expects lenders to need “full-stack” people who understand credit and technology well enough to translate between them. He also flagged a risk few are planning for: junior staff learned this business by doing the routine work that is now being automated.

“Remove the training ground without deliberately replacing it, and in 10 years you will have excellent automation and nobody qualified to supervise it.” — Dan Levin, Monitor Technology Roundtable

Treat Technology as an Investment

Asked for one piece of advice on approaching technology strategy, Dan’s guidance was to think about decisions, not tools:

  • Treat technology as an investment, not an expense

  • Start from the pain point, not the tool

  • Define what “good” looks like three years out, and find the smallest change that proves you are on the right path

  • Own your data and your decision logic and workflows

  • Give every initiative an owner and a number

“You will replace most of your tools within five years, but never your data.” — Dan Levin, Monitor Technology Roundtable
